[As it's raining today, the old man has decided to do what he usually does, get drunk out of boredom. But it has been a while since he's used the journal for anything other than people watching, so he figured he should probably contribute to that mess that we call social interaction. He's been trying to figure out what he was doing the last time he was in Luceti, he must've entertained himself somehow. He did gardening.]

How do you guys stop yerselves from gettin' so bored in this place? Not that I mind the peace and quiet we get when we're not bein' experimented on! It's just that some of you must've picked up new hobbies, ones that don't involve spendin' every day at the battle dome, right? Us old folk just aren't cut out fer that sorta thing. Drinkin' alcohol every day isn't a very healthy hobby ta have.

[A pause while he pours himself another class of wine.]

A turtle did suggest that I take up a musical instrument now that I think about it.

I don't know what an airplane is.

They're planes...that fly in the air. Like cars! But flying cars.

[ wait this is just about as useful as that time she was drunk on love wine and trying to explain helicopters. ] Okay -- think of like a boat? But in the sky. A sky boat.

Oh! Like the Fiertia in a way then? I think I get it! So ya can make things that fly out of paper? [A pondering thought, anything that flies is instantly awesome in Raven's book.]

Well? More like glide. But they're pretty cool.

If I threw it off the roof of my house, then maybe it'd glide across the river?

Maybe. If it was a really, really good one.

I could make the best paper airplane ya could imagine. If I knew how. I'd draw wings on it, that'd make it glide further!

You would so totally be the guy getting the red sports car with the go faster lines.

When I saw the carriages with stripes next to the ones without, they kinda looked like they went faster. Maybe it's just the way horizontal lines mess up yer eyes.

[He's serious. MAYBE THEY DO?]

Optical illusion lines. Well? They sell better, I guess.

I don't know what a car is either, so I guess they do?

How would that work with the horses?

That's the beauty. They don't need horses. Just gasoline.

It's not a monster, it's a fuel.

It's more like a liquid.

So ya put liquid in the cars, which are like carriages, to make them move on their own without horses?

Nope. They drive -- on wheels.
