I'm startin' ta feel real sorry for all those new feathers, showin' up in weather like this. Ya must be absolutely insane if ya think this snow is fun, or even pretty! I hate snow, snowmen, snowballs, snowstorms, igloos, icicles, ice cubes, ice cream, all of it! Urgh...

Please tell me it's gonna start gettin' warmer soon. I don't know how much more of the cold this old man can take.

The sort of things I've heard them doin', I can't believe they'd experiment on kids. I'd take ten times the abuse a kid would! Why won't that make 'em happy?

Urgh, suddenly the weather seems insignificant.

I gather that they do not care who they harm. They send out New Feathers in these conditions and worse with barely any clothing and send children off to fight.

They have each draft from what it seems.

They really don't have any standards do they? If I ever get drafted, I'll make sure ta keep them outta harm.

I would do the same, but I have been here for all the drafts and have yet to be called. [A very annoying thing too, because she is a very good fighter and has the immense advantage of being very hard to kill.]

Really? Are ya sure that's a bad thing, war is never pleasant, speakin' from experience.

There are many things that are not pleasant but we have to do them. It is far better that those with experience fighting go than those who do not.

They shouldn't be sending anyone out there who doesn't want ta fight, whether they have experience or not. It ain't right.

But I'm sure most who can fight would feel about the same and rather they be sent than someone who has never used a weapon before, much less used it against a person.

I haven't seen the third party before, are they just like us? I thought they were some kinda monsters.

What I've heard from the others is that they are like us but with larger wings.

It's not impossible but from what little we know even after how many battles we've had, they don't appear to be giving us much information.

A war against our will, with all the information kept hidden from us. Why can't anythin' be straightforward. If they explained why we would have ta fight, they might find out some people are more willin' than they might think.

I recall hearing that they attacked this place before. I know I'd much rather fight somewhere else so they do not threaten us all.

Now that ya mention it, I heard somethin' about them trying to kill us before. That's why the barrier is there, to protect us.

I know there was a battle here before and that there is a fort in what used to be the desert that was used during that time. But it seems only the residents who have been here a very long time recall that.

Ya mean, the desert that magically turned into an ocean? I can't say I've ever heard of it myself, but I haven't been here for all that long yet.

What about the village, have they managed ta get here?

I don't really know, but one of the residents who has been here a long time may know more.

Maybe I should ask Yuri or Flynn sometime, they mentioned being here for two years already.
